On the bus..... eventually

Time to take a tour of the city on a hop-on hop-off bus.  Saturday, and we wondered if it would be a good idea since others in our group had see long queue at the ticket office.....  Worth a shot, but as is our style, we walked to the ticket office - and there's always a possibility of getting side-tracked.  And we did!!!  In the city, there was an Italian festival - awesome.

Lots of Italian food ..... oh, Zac, I know I promised NOT to have pizza in Argentina, but just one slice of true, authentic, Italian pizza doesn't count, does it?

Jeff had pizza in a cone!!!

And FOOD definitely wasn't on our list, since we had just purchased some pastries for our bus ride ..... 12 pastries for 14 pesos - ridiculous price!!!

On to purchase our tickets.....  yes there was a queue - 2 in fact (one to purchase tickets and one to get on the bus), and an almost empty bus waiting at the stop.  But a sign at the ticket office said next bus was at 3.25 - almost 3 hours away!!!!  Doesn't make any sense, but we bought 48hr tickets - went away to fill in a few hours in Florida and surrounding streets, before getting on our allotted bus at 3.25pm.  Oh and we filled in some time with a coffee at Starbucks (and our previously purchased pastries and donuts, which by this time were not that flash!!)

Eventually on the bus, and although our original plan was to hop off at places like La Boca, Recoletta or Palermo, we stayed on for the 3 hour loop, and hopped off at the San Telmo stop - closest to home.

Short walk home with darkening cloud overhead....  and a really loud parade drumming and dancing down the street towards us.  Absolutely fabulous.  Loud, colourful, and the rain started pelting down.  The procession wasn't put off by the rain at all.  Drummers, dancers, and loads of others following or dancing along on the side - and similar to a Clermont street parade, the groups and followers all moved down the street together.

We were pressed back against some shops (few awnings here) - right in front of a restaurant.  Good a place as any for dinner, so we went in.  WOW - we had THE BEST STEAK ever.  I'd definitely go back there for another!
