Last day in El Calafate - joined another Toucan group!!!

Another warm sunny day in El Calafate - everywhere we go people tell us how lucky (fortunado) we are to have such beautiful weather.  In fact, we were told there's only about 15 days of warm sunny weather a year.  Not sure whether we understood that right.  Hard to believe - especially since this place doesn't have a very high rainfall.  Can be very windy, and wind from the glaciers can by icy!!  .... maybe our Spanish isn't as good as we think!!

Managed to fit in a trip out to a very interesting Glacier Museum ....

and a walk around a small park in town - lots of tributes to significant people -
Lex with Francisco Moreno - glacier was named after Moreno.

beautiful gardens!!!

Had to try Zac's recommendation for a bar, before we leave town.  Not open until 4.30 - bit of time to fill in

Small bar (not on the main street) - like a step back in time.  Old building furnished with items from the past - much family history, and the loveliest lady who told us some of the stories.  No, we didn't try the food (also recommended by Zac) - as they only serve cakes these days - not lamb stew, empinadas or home baked bread.  Irma did recommend some good local restaurants for us, and told us she'd be home after 8pm if we wanted to drop in to her house - soooo friendly!!!!

Enjoyed another Patagonian Lamb dinner for our last night in Patagonia - YUM!!!!!!
