Tastes of the tour

Enjoying food around the world is one of the great pleasures of travelling.  We've had some amazing food over the past few weeks.

Back in Lima today for a real treat - lunch at Saqra, in Miraflores.  Don't remember the last time I had a 3 course meal - and finished everything!!  It was soooo good.  Started with crispy prawns with dipping sauce of ginger, passionfruit and pisco.  Could have licked the plate!!!  Even forgot to take pics... until main course.

This was our dessert!!
Looking back over the last few weeks.....

Argentina is renowned for its beef - and we started off with delicious beef in Buenos Aires.  Seems to be the custom to eat much later than we would normally do.  Some restaurants don't open until 8pm and most are still serving at midnight.  Buenos Aires has some of the most amazing bars/restaurants - so much character!!

Down in Patagonia, we followed Zac's recommendations - ate king crab, salmon and lamb (Patagonian lamb - cooked in the most unusual way - but sooooo delicious).

Had huge salmon panini sandwiches in Ushuaia - also in a restaurant that was a bit of a museum as well.

And for a bit of a change we also tried a restaurant with African influence - Afrigonia, where Lex enjoyed 'ostrich' for a change.  Amazing food at this restaurant in Puerto Natales.

Discovered one of Zac's favourite bars in El Calafate - although his description was very vague.... 2 blocks from the bridge, street back from the main street, has lots of old farm stuff around the walls.  Sadly, they no longer serve food - so no lamb stew, home made bread or lemon meringue pie!

We have eaten well ... and tried lots of different flavours.  Delicious!!!

Time to leave Patagonia .... on ya bike!!!
